Cardiac Muscle

Cardiac muscle develops from the splanchnic mesoderm surrounding the heart tube. The myoblasts adhere to one another, the intervening cells membranes do not disintegrate but form the intercalated discs. A few special bundles of muscle cells differentiate into the conducting system of the heart.
